FAQ

What kind of software does VectorAnalytica develop?

VectorAnalytica’s platforms are web and mobile applications for collecting, integrating and managing data in support of research, decision-making and active intervention strategies. Our applications have been focused on but not limited to public health and epidemiology. See more in Case Studies

What do you mean by “customized software”?

Basic tier-level of service allows analytics to be customized as per the query forms created by the client. Premium tier-level service includes all customization in Basic plus creation of customized reports. Enterprise tier-level service includes all customization in Premium plus customized services as described in the Products page.

Who owns the data collected and analyzed through VectorAnalytica platforms?

The client owns the data and serves as a “data controller” for all app data processing. The data can be hosted on the cloud or on one or more private servers, but only the client handles the data and sets up and controls all access authorizations. The license agreement will specify authorized use of data by VectorAnalytica during the licensing period. Upon termination or expiration of the license agreement, the client should export the data from the VectorAnalytica cloud space to another host.

What security provisions are included in VectorAnalytica platforms?

Our web software uses the security services of AWS, including the network firewall built into Amazon VPC, encryption across all services, DDoS mitigation, and data encryption within the database services. The default security level for all our web apps is medium-high. Additional security measures and controls can be implemented as deemed necessary to keep the data secure and privacy-protected. Authentication using AWS IAM with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on CloudWatch is available for Enterprise-tier clients upon request.

What is the security situation with the three mobile apps?

All VectorAnalytica mobile apps connect to the services through encrypted channels using TSL. Data on the device is also encrypted. MosquitoTracker (GooglePlay, AppleStore) and Rat Report (GooglePlay, AppleStore) are public; MyQueryForm (GooglePlay, AppleStore) is for exclusive use by registered users. If connectivity is unavailable, data captured are stored on device. When connectivity is reestablished, users must re-register to synchronize the data. Security levels on mobile apps can be increased as required.

How does VectorAnalytica handle clinical data?

HIPAA is implemented.

Can data be exported from the web engine?

Yes, on standard formats like csv. At the Enterprise-level tier, other formats like xlsx and pdf are exportable by request.

Can I test the VectorAnalytica platform before purchasing it?

How scalable is the platform?

Complete platform functionality is currently operational worldwide for the Free, Basic, and Premium tiers. At the Enterprise-tier level of service, geographical settings can be adjusted from neighborhood block to entire country-level and even larger geographic regions, including arbitrary boundaries as defined by the customer.

In what programming language are the maps?

React, Java language, HTML5, JavaScript, R ( www.r-project.org ), Python (www.python.org) and Cloud computing

Why does VectorAnalytica use R or Python instead of, e.g., ArcGIS or ESRI?

R and Python are free, and have a large development community, excellent documentation, and forums. Both have more current algorithms than ArcGIS, MapInfo, ArcView, or other GIS. Their analytical capability is always in continuous development and they offer many forms of analysis and visualizations.

Can data be imported from third-party providers? How?

Yes, the platform allows importing third-party data through the web interface or using the API of third-party providers such as weather services, census tracts, etc. Also, VectorAnalytica can assist clients with developing APIs for their archival data. This feature is available at the Enterprise-tier level of service.

How much does the software suite cost?

VectorAnalytica offers a Free version of the platform. Platform pricing depends on level of service requested (Basic, Premium, or Enterprise) and on the number of users and functionalities specified. For more information about the features and pricing structure of each level of service, see the Products page or Contact Us.

How long do the analytics take to run?

In general, running time ranges from seconds to hours, contingent on various factors such as: quantity of data, type of analysis, variables included in analysis. Our system prioritizes fast and concurrently running algorithms.
